Strong Roots Study
What is the purpose of the study?
The goal of the Strong Roots Study is to learn more about what helps parents and children thrive, especially during stressful times. The study looks at different aspects of family life, including parents' well-being, social support, personality, and neighborhood features as well as children's emotions and behaviors. By looking at both the parents and the children together, we hope to explore the many ways families navigate challenges and support one another.
Who can participate?
Parents or caregivers with 1 or 2 children between the ages of 6 and 12.
What does participating look like?
Parents will complete an online survey answering questions about themself, their children, and their community. Additionally, one parent and the kids will visit our lab in Corbett Family hall on Notre Dame's campus for roughly 2-4 hours to complete interviews and family tasks. Visit length will depend on the number of children attending the visit, how long they take to complete their tasks, and survey completion. If the parent completes the online surveys beforehand, the visit to our lab will be a little shorter. Families can earn up to $120 for participating with one child and $160 for participating with two children.
Parents can also choose to share their location history with the lab so we can learn about how they engage with their community. You can still participate without sharing your location history!
